After moving to Texas in 1999, Mike was introduced to daylilies
by co-worker Edgar Tarrant (son of the late award-winning hybridizer
Inez Tarrant). Mike and Susan soon purchased their first ten cultivars
at “Payne’s in the Grass Daylily Farm” in Pearland
and planted them at their new home to see what would happen. What
happened was that Mike became obsessed! In the years since then,
flower beds have been expanded, more have been added, and all have
been expanded some more. The garden collection now includes over
300 cultivars. In 2006, Mike and Susan were honored to receive AHS
Display Garden status. They very much enjoy sharing their yard with
visitors and introducing others to the world of daylilies.
Please join them after the convention for an Open Garden. They are
located 20 miles southeast of Houston, just off I-45.
