Daylilies have a very light, pleasing scent. Some cultivars are more heavily scented than others. Scent may vary with the time of the day and weather conditions.
The AHS awarded the now discontinued L. Ernest Plouf Award each year for the best dormant (see deciduous) and fragrant cultivar as voted by the AHS Garden Judges during the years 1979-2003.
