Wingspan

Wingspan refers to the maximum distance between the tip of a petal and the tip of its opposite sepal when both are stretched straight out from the throat. It is approximately the length of a petal plus the length of a sepal. Wingspan will be larger than the diameter (registered size), which is always measured without uncurling the segments, thus wingspan is not used for formal measurement of flower size.
