Daylilies and More! Region 11 Summer Meeting – June 28th-29th, 2019 Springfield, MO
June 28 - June 29
We hope you will take part in Region 11’s first 1-day tour Regional. It is also the first joint
planned Regional; Region 11 officers took the reins to take on the responsibility of
planning the event. The local club took on the local assignments. Region 11 has wanted
a Summer Regional in Springfield for some time. Unfortunately, the Ozark Daylily Society
doesn’t have the membership to handle a Regional on their own. The desire was there
but had an aging membership and many of the gardens of their club members are small.
Springfield and the surrounding area is great destination for weddings, honeymoons and
vacations — so much to do. You will want to include extra days to visit: Sam Walton has
built the #1 wildlife museum and aquarium at the Bass Pro store in Springfield, Branson
has plenty of shows and don’t forget Silver Dollar City, Golfing opportunity at Top of the
Rock and fishing at Table Rock Lake, the beautiful Springfield Botanical Gardens and so
much more. The Guest speaker is Rich Howard. Rich owns and operates CT Daylily a
two-acre property in Wallingford in South Central Connecticut.
A Great Time is being planned for you!! Register early!! The first 50 will be entered in a
very special drawing, which will be revealed in the next issue of the MoKanOk.
Friday night: If you arrive early, go and visit the 10 daylily beds that the local club
maintains for the Botanical Gardens. After you have registered for the regional at the
hotel and have attended any meetings you need to attend, meet us over at the Botanical
Gardens Meeting Space. There’s entertainment!! We’re Not Dead Yet, who play country,
rock and roll and gospel will play for us—practice your line dancing!! These guys are
friends of Sue Calbreath. Food and drinks and the daylily auction will happen here too!
Saturday, you will have breakfast at the hotel. Then grab a friend or two and meet over
at the Botanical Gardens to catch your bus ride to the three gardens on tour. The buses
will bring us back to the Japanese Pavilion where lunch will be provided. You will have a
ticket to tour the Japanese Gardens. A tram tour will be available for the rest of the
Back to the hotel, last chance for the bag auction which will close at 6pm. Join your
friends for the open bar social hour and banquet. Rich will speak at the banquet.
