Bending Hill Farm
Region 2
Bending Hill Farm is situated on two acres, nestled amid the rolling verdant hills at the end of the Kettle Moraines in Mukwonago, Wisconsin. We began building the first of our fourteen gardens seriously after a month long vacation of the Southern Georgia plantations, the enclosed gardens in Savannah and Charleston and the wandering gardens of the Carolinas. I became inspired by a European design concept where one traveled through a series of defined garden rooms, one leading into the other, as you moved through the whole. Each had a theme or attraction which would hold one’s attention for a time. As you moved farther, you became aware of unifying elements. For instance, a certain bush or flower was repeated in each room…or a color was reflected throughout the entire garden: here in a statue, there in the berries on a tree, then the trim on the house. This, I thought, was a way of slowing one’s progress, guiding where needed and hiding what was to come from view. We have tried to keep these things in mind when developing BHF.
We have many forms and colors, new and vintage, extra large and small daylilies. I have sought out the unique as well as the ubiquitous daylily in my efforts to make this garden worthy of AHS Display Garden certified status. You can read my articles about daylilies and how we keep them growing and healthy on the WDS Newsletter where I am editor or on my open Facebook page or on BendingHillFarm.com.
We work tirelessly to keep the garden polished and weed free. We were proudly chosen as an open garden for the Region 2 2026 Summer Daylily Conference.
