Junior Citation

Recognizing Outstanding New Cultivars

Established in 1950, the Junior Citation was created to recognize newly introduced cultivars that exhibit exceptional qualities and distinction. Because the award focuses on newer introductions, it is not intended to indicate proven performance across a wide range of climates, regions, or soil conditions.

AHS Garden Judges may vote only for cultivars they have personally observed growing in a garden. Votes are cast using the cultivar’s seedling number, and a cultivar must receive a minimum of ten votes to earn the award.
