More about the garden:

Richfield Living is a non-profit Senior Living community located on 52 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds in Roanoke County on the outskirts of Salem, VA with stunning views of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains.  The campus is easily accessible for visitors from the Interstate.

Jane Morgan Harris is the founder of Richfield and the organization back in 1934.  The campus is professionally maintained and includes a vast array of plants, shrubs and trees.  There are two large ponds on the property.  The one located near the daylily beds is highlighted with a beautiful fountain.  The daylily beds are under the direct care of Shirley Jarusek who oversees the design and maintenance of the gardens.

There are currently over 320 named cultivars with plans for expansion to eventually exceed 1000 daylilies.  This is also a historical daylily garden. The gardens are easily accessible with wide sidewalks and flat grassy  areas with nice shade trees. Benches are dotted along the walkway to encourage visitors to take in the beautiful surroundings.
