Delbert & Brenda Jindra’s Garden

Region 11

When we married in 1992, we designed flower gardens surrounding our home on our 165-acre cattle
ranch near Cashion, northwest of Oklahoma City. The gardens have been enhanced many times by
adding raised beds and new plants. Our garden comprises three distinct areas with gardens around our
home, barn, and nearby field. A pergola provides comfortable seating to survey the colorful beds and
borders.
We have a diverse collection of daylilies of all shapes, sizes, and colors, from historic plants to the most
modern cultivars from hybridizers throughout the United States. The garden includes an extensive
collection of daylilies registered by members of AHS Region 11, including recent introductions by
Michael Bouman, Kathy Krattli, Terry and Ashton Lopp, Carol (Seajay) Mock, Nancy Rold, Bobby Scott,
and Patti Waterman. Our garden was awarded AHS Display Garden status in 2005.
Recently we added several daylilies hybridized by Karol Emmerich, Judy Davisson, Robert Selman, and
Eric Simpson.
Delbert raises beef cattle on the ranch and has several donkeys that guard the cattle. He also tends a
herd of goats that are natural grazers of weeds that grow around the barns and farm. A miniature
donkey named Little Bit guards the goats and is a loving companion.
