Daylily Ambassadors

The Daylily Ambassadors Program recognizes and supports individuals who share their passion for daylilies in their communities and beyond. Ambassadors help spread awareness of the American Daylily Society, inspire new gardeners, and promote the joy of growing daylilies through education, outreach, and leadership.

Eligibility Criteria

For simplicity, the term “entity” refers to a club, organization, commercial business, non-profit, community/government body, individual, or group of individuals. Entities may or may not be affiliated with AHS, and international entities are also eligible for recognition under this program.

Events or activities that are primarily internal to the AHS community do not qualify unless they involve partnerships with outside groups and/or demonstrate outreach efforts that go significantly beyond traditional club activities.

Each entity is evaluated on its own merit, recognizing that activities may vary widely. All share a passion for the daylily and demonstrate their commitment through extraordinary and innovative efforts to promote it. Examples of qualifying efforts may include:

  • Encouraging participation from private citizens, business owners, non-profits, and government organizations (including schools).
  • Raising awareness of the value of daylilies among homeowners, gardeners, landscapers, nurserymen, communities, and the general public.
  • Fostering pride and public support through daylily-related celebrations.
  • Engaging a wide range of age groups, from youth to seniors.
  • Publicizing daylily events and celebrations through multiple channels such as print and broadcast media, personal appearances, online platforms (email, websites, blogs), social media (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, etc.), and emerging technologies. This list is illustrative, not exhaustive.

Nomination Process

Nominations for Daylily Ambassador may be submitted by an entity or the entity’s sponsor. In addition, they may be submitted by any AHS member.  New candidates may be submitted for evaluation by the Committee at any time during the year.

All nominations must be submitted using the PDF of this form. The form must be filled out and emailed to [email protected]. Upon a positive majority evaluation by the Daylily Ambassador Committee, the entity shall be presented to the AHS Marketing Chair for approval, after which the recognition process will proceed.

Recognition of the Entities

A Proclamation shall be generated by the Committee for signature of the AHS President.
Daylily Ambassdors will be publicized in the Daylily Journal as well on all AHS Social Media. Since recognition occurs throughout the year, publicity in the Daylily Journal will be limited to one issue, as determined by the editor.
